Background checks and
badges
In addition to Pop Warner requirements for background checks,
Miami-Dade County now has in place, an ordinance governing these
procedures, that we are REQUIRED to follow.
All coaches,
team parents and volunteers that have regular contact with the
children participating in GMPW are required to fill out a
volunteer application. This application can be obtained from
your park commissioner, or downloaded
here.
This completed application gives the League the information needed and
permission to run the background checks required by law. In
addition to your SS#, the form requires a copy of your drivers
license.
We recognize the
concerns you may have about identity theft and privacy issues.
Please be assured, this information is kept secured by the
league. Only two of the executive officers run the background
checks, and no information is divulged to anyone
concerning these matters, except as required by law.
Once the
background checks are completed, all volunteers are required to
have a photo ID badge, indicating that the individual has
successfully passed the background screening.
This ID is required to be worn at all times that you are at
the park. Failure to do so can result in a fine of up to $500.00
as imposed by county ordinance!! You must have completed the
background check and have a valid ID issued by GMPW, before
practice begins Aug. 1st.
An additional
badge will be issued to all rostered coaches and team parents,
for sideline access during the games. These will be given out at
certification, and only those with the proper sideline badge
will be permitted on the field during the games.
Times, dates and
places for background checks and photo ID issuance will be
posted here by the league. Check back soon.
